The Task
Now that you are an expert on the cultural contributions made to American history for your assigned decade, let the creativity begin!I. Artwork - choose one of the following
- Replicate a chosen piece of art originally created during your assigned decade.
OR
- Create an original piece of art based upon a style created or popularized during your assigned decade.
Remember, artwork comes in many different forms. Choose one that you will enjoy!
II. Article
- Pretend that you are a journalist working for the Lawrence Times.
- Write an article explaining the contributions made by your assigned decade to the cultural history of the United States.
- If any contributions have made a lasting impact on American culture, make sure they are discussed in detail!
III. Oral Presentation - Create an oral presentation of your artwork that includes the following elements.
- Discuss the origins of the piece you have created, and why it was chosen.
- Explain how your artwork accurately reflects the times in which it was originally created. In other words, put the artwork into the context of your assigned decade.
- If this particular piece of artwork or artistic style has left a lasting impact on American culture, make sure to discuss this as well.
